Production-Wide

  • Speak with all departments about how they can demonstrate sustainable action on screen.
  • Encourage everyone to read existing sustainability on-screen tip sheets in the Featured Resources section below.

Production Design/Locations/Set Decoration/Props

  • Look for locations that showcase nature or clean energy (e.g., wind turbines).
  • Discuss portraying sustainable choices:
    • Prioritize low-carbon food choices.
    • Avoid single-use plastics on screen, prioritize reusable containers and shopping bags.
  • Normalize practicing sustainable fundamentals (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).

Costumes

  • Prioritize sustainable materials.
  • Have characters repeat costume items on different script days to demonstrate reuse.

Transportation/Picture Vehicles

Prioritize EVs and bicycles over gas-guzzling vehicles.

What Does Success Look Like?

  • Sustainable choices are seamlessly integrated into the show.
  • Single-use plastics are minimized in the final cut.
  • Electric vehicles, biking, and walking are primary modes of transportation.
  • Your project accurately reflects sustainability practices.
