How to Get Started
Talk with your teams about what can be done to demonstrate sustainability on screen.
Production-Wide
- Speak with all departments about how they can demonstrate sustainable action on screen.
- Encourage everyone to read existing sustainability on-screen tip sheets in the Featured Resources section below.
Production Design/Locations/Set Decoration/Props
- Look for locations that showcase nature or clean energy (e.g., wind turbines).
- Discuss portraying sustainable choices:
- Prioritize low-carbon food choices.
- Avoid single-use plastics on screen, prioritize reusable containers and shopping bags.
- Normalize practicing sustainable fundamentals (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).
Costumes
- Prioritize sustainable materials.
- Have characters repeat costume items on different script days to demonstrate reuse.
Transportation/Picture Vehicles
Prioritize EVs and bicycles over gas-guzzling vehicles.
What Does Success Look Like?
- Sustainable choices are seamlessly integrated into the show.
- Single-use plastics are minimized in the final cut.
- Electric vehicles, biking, and walking are primary modes of transportation.
- Your project accurately reflects sustainability practices.
- Audiences are encouraged by seeing these depictions as a normal way of life.
