Shooting at Studio Facility and Backlots

Ask the Studio Facility:

  • Is there enough grid/house power for all power needs?
  • Have previous shows been able to be generator-free?
  • Have previous shows needed to add supplemental studio power?
  • Discuss supplementing studio power:
    • If there isn’t enough grid/house power, you can look at cleaner alternatives to fuel generators:
      • There may be additional power that can be accessed through a temporary power drop.
      • Use additional house power from adjoining stages.
      • Rent a solar basecamp to reduce the need for a diesel basecamp generator.
      • Rent a battery or hybrid battery/generator to power equipment trucks or catering to reduce the need for those fuel generators.

Shooting on Location

Ask Locations to:

  • Inquire about grid power access at all sites being rented by production.
  • Prioritize recurring sites or sites that will be used for multiple days.
  • Have a power planning logistics meeting with Production, Locations, Lighting, and Transportation to discuss all power possibilities and solutions.
  • If there is house power available, have it vetted by the Transportation and Lighting teams to evaluate whether production can use this power.

Ask Transportation to:

  • Inquire about grid access
  • Rent a solar or hybrid basecamp, as it will reduce the need for a diesel basecamp generator.
  • Rent a battery or hybrid battery/generator to power equipment trucks or catering to reduce the need for those fuel generators.
  • Discuss parking plans to optimize generator use.
  • Discuss whether anything will need to be powered overnight, and if there is a cleaner solution.
